WELCOME TO DISTRICT 8!
Nestled in the beautiful Ojai Valley city of Oak View, California, District 8 spans Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. A large and diverse district, it is made up of players from every age, every level of playing ability, and from an enhanced range of complimentary musical influences.
District 8’s membership is committed to preserving Old Time Music, but varies from traditionalists to folk, Americana, country, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, and many other newer folk music traditions. This rich musical diversity strengthens District 8’s commitment to education and provides the community with an active partner in developing and understanding the musical and cultural importance of Old-Time music, and its origins, derivatives, and future.
But most of all…it’s fun! District 8 is a place to connect, to play, to laugh, to sing, to learn, and to have fun; it’s a friendly, safe community of music lovers.
The California Old-Time Fiddlers’ Association is committed to “Preserving and Perpetuating authentic Old-Time Music” throughout the state of California. Supporting communities via its ten designated districts, and it’s principal office in Oroville, Butte County, the California State Old-Time Fiddlers’ Association is chartered by the State of California as an Educational Non-profit Corporation 501 (C)(3).
